WE are getting the $485,000 refund from the busing issue from 2005 ( the year of 38%) HELLOOOO ! They are NOT holding the line at $325,000 or .95% The Truth is they are holding the line on spending at $810,000 dollars !
They are NOT representing the truth when they print things like "spending has only increased 1.65% in 5 years! The truth is we were hit with almost 4% last year and almost 4% this year ! HMMMMMMM almost 8% in two years.....
How much money was set aside to improve the programs at Clayton Huey and remove our school from the "NYS needs improvement list". The English test scores for grades 3-8 were published in Newsday today. What is the plan to bring our scores up to the level of surrounding districts?
We have one of the highest tax rates in Brookhaven. Where is the money going?

THE BUDGET
The district is proposing a budget of $34,686,000 for the 2009-10 school year, an increase of 0.95 percent over the current $34,360,060 budget. The local tax levy would rise 3.9 percent to $18,258,910 from the current figure of $17,573,365.
The average single-family house assessed at $3,000 would pay an estimated $6,770, an increase of 3.83 percent from the 2008-09 average of $6,520.
The proposed budget includes a 3.25 percent contractual salary increase for teachers and a 3.63 percent step increase, and calls for the reduction of one teacher and two other staff members.
