Live Musical Performances at Help Soccer Kick Cancer Fundraiser
On Saturday, August 15, Help Soccer Kick Cancer will hold it's 5th annual soccer match at the Center Moriches High School Varsity Soccer Field on Frowein Rd. in Center Moriches. The purpose of this game is to fundraise for the American Cancer Society. All proceeds from this event will be donated to ACS. The Center Moriches Fire Dept. team will play against M.Y.O. Soccer coaches. Councilman Keith Romaine will serve as honorary captain of the Center Moriches Fire Dept. team. This year, headlining our event, will be the Debra Liso Band featuring Prentiss McNeil, of the original Drifters, who will perform after the game. You may want to bring beach chairs or blankets and a camera for this portion of our event. Hans Luhmer, who has been the driving force behind Help Soccer Kick Cancer for the past 5 years, was pleased to make this announcement on Monday, July 27: "I think that having music makes this a truly family friendly event. Getting someone of this stature to perform can only make it better for the people who come out to support this cause." Festivities are set to begin at 5 pm with the J Scott Band. Donations are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under the age of 12, regardless of when you choose to arrive. All children must be accompanied by an adult. With each recommended donation, contributors will receive a free hot dog, beverage, and chips. Additional food will be available for purchase. And there will be raffles to participate in. The purpose of this event is to support the American Cancer Society so come on out and Help Soccer Kick Cancer! Corporate sponsorship is welcome.
