Good Evening, this is Dr. Donald James, Superintendent of Center Moriches Schools calling with an urgent message. This evening I was notified of an attempted abduction of one of our students. This incident occurred last night on Old Neck Road in Center Moriches. The Suffolk County Police are looking for a late model, lite brown or tan SUV, possible a Jeep Cherokee. The man was described as a white male on the tall side and heavy set. At this time, that is all the information I have regarding this incident.
Please speak to your children about this matter and remain vigilent with regard to strangers who might approch them. Further, if you have any pertinent information regarding this individual I urge you to call the 7th Precinct Detective's Unit at 852-8752. Again, that's 852-8752. Further if you or your children encounter this man, call 911 immediately.
Please be aware that we will increase security patrols during the school day, at after school activities, over the weekend and througout next week and we will notify staff of this matter. This message will also be posted on our web site under the Suerintendent's link. Thank you and please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns.
