Goi Wm Floyd School District is roughly 7 times larger then Center Moriches District, yet the Center Moriches Superintendent is paid about $50,000 more a year. Its no wonder Center Moriches has one of the highest school district property tax rates in all of Brookhaven town. Unbelievably Center Moriches has a higher drop out rate. Even with the program cuts Center Moriches has never had the programs (sports, music, arts) or AP courses available to students at Wm Floyd District. Probably the only reason to make the move is if you wanted your child to participate in non-competitive (no cut) interscholastic sports. If you ask me that's not showing much confidence in your child! If you're a Wm Floyd school district taxpayer why would you be upset with a state funded $57,000,000 extension to the high school? If your neighbor really needed to move from an undesireable area of the Wm Floyd district why didn't they just move to Moriches as opposed to Center Moriches?
