A Sachem student was confirmed to have swine flu, and another student in the district had a possible case of this particular strain of H1N1 influenza virus A, according to school officials.
The student who had the confirmed case attends Sequoya Middle School in Holtsville, the district said in a letter to parents dated Tuesday and posted on the Sachem Web site. The student with the possible case attends Sachem High School North in Lake Ronkonkoma.
Both students stayed at home while ill and have fully recovered, according to the district.
As of May 28, there were at least 40 confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza virus A in Suffolk County, according to the county health department Web site.
